Program Description: ISSofBC Employment Services
ISSofBC provides a full range of employment services that assist immigrant jobseekers with a wide variety of needs and enhance their ability to build a meaningful and successful work life in Canada. Services are provided in multiple languages and at various locations in Greater Vancouver:
Vancouver- #501-333 Terminal Avenue
ISSofBC Vancouver Career Centre (604-684-2504; mcm@issbc.org) Assists unemployed immigrants who are eligible to work in Canada find jobs by providing case management and employment counselling services in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Farsi, Dari, Punjabi, Hindi, Spanish, Vietnamese and French. Other services include group career planning and job search workshops; job leads and connections to employers; a drop-in, fully-equipped resource centre; cultural adaptation and workplace communication tips; and, regular Trade Talks.
A settlement employment initiative designed to meet the varying needs of newcomer jobseekers. Employment and settlement needs are addressed by multilingual employment counselors.
Brings together skilled immigrants (mentees) and established professionals (mentors) in the Greater Vancouver area. The program aims to acquaint mentees with Canadian workplace culture and the Canadian labour market. Mentors offer industry-specific advice on training and educational opportunities, licensing requirements and regulations. Mentees are able to discuss networking strategies and gain confidence as they transition to the Canadian workforce.
